Spring is here again and with it brings a new golf season. We welcome returning Riverside Men’s Club members from their winter migrations back home.
Riverside Golf Course opened on April 1 with Men’s Club activities scheduled to commence at 10:59 a.m. on Tuesday April 5.
The Club’s Spring meeting was held on Tuesday, April 10 at 9 a.m. in our new clubhouse (the old Sportsman’s Lounge).
Looking back to the 2010 season, congratulations are in order to our champions and trophy winners, including: Club Champion – Roy Nelson; Baisley Singles Champion – Bill Bergman; Club Challenge winners – John Esler and George Gray and Most Improved Golfer – Lyn Hayes.
We lost out once again to Mountainside Men’s Club in the Riverside / Mountainside challenge, Mountainside triumphing in the final contest to win the season series by two to one with one match tied.
Looking forward to 2011, we have a full schedule of events including “away days” at some of our favorite local clubs.
Additionally, there will be a mixed team challenge with Mountainside Clubs pitting the best of the Men’s and Ladies’ Clubs against each other.
We also have the privilege and challenge this year of hosting the East Kootenay Senior Men’s Open Championship on June 12 and 13.
New members interested in joining to participate in friendly competition are welcome and should contact Club Captain Martin Hacker (250 345-6219) or Club Secretary Philip Boyer (250 345-4002).
