Dear Editor,
I have several pet peeves frequently seen in newspapers, or heard on radio or television: I wonder if any other people in the valley have similar misuse of words that they find irritating?
1. “To continue on” – the “on” is not needed.
2. Something being “different to” or “different than” – correct use being “different from”.
3. Using “me” or “I” incorrectly when writing or talking about yourself with another person.
4. Use of “iconic” – now almost an epidemic use – should only apply to something of unique religious status.
