I really hope that all Invermere Deer Protection Organization (IDPO) members never eat cows, pigs, sheep, chickens or fish — or wear leather shoes, gloves, belts or jackets.
They seem to realize that killing any live animal is inevitably going to cause some, or a great deal, of pain.
No one has commented on the relatively humane method of birth control — “emasculation” as in Ray Cook’s recent letter, “castration” in my previous letter — where the male deer would be tranquilized and over a five year trial period.
This could result in a much lower repeat population of urban male deer. I also hope that these IDPO members at least have the sense to have their domestic dogs and cats fixed.
