December 6, 1965 - October 22, 2009
Gerald’s many friends in the Invermere area will be saddened to learn of Gerald’s unexpected death at Castlegar, B.C. on October 22, after a short stay in hospital. Gerald will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, fishing, skiing, motorcycles, adventure and, mainly, his smile and happy disposition. Gerald died peacefully at home, only two days after he was discharged from the hospital at Trail. Cause of death has yet to be determined.
Gerald loved, and was loved, by his extended family, his companion of eleven years and his two stepchildren. He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Shirley Johnson of Stony Plain, Alberta; one daughter, Caylie Ann of Calgary; five sisters and their spouses, Aarda Griffeth, Marla Murphy (Don); Rae Mantler (Brian), Cheryl Wiese (Rick), and Gloria McNiven (Don). Also his five brothers: Jerrie (Debbie), Chris, Kelly (Rosi), Kelvin (Belinda), and Leslie (Rose) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of 11 years, Pamela Grubb and two stepchildren, James and Samantha of Castlegar.
Gerald’s remains were cremated and will be dispersed in a wilderness area at a later date. There will be a private family remembrance on November 27 at Spring Lake, Alberta.
