Alice Jean Futa
1921 – 2010
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alice Jean Futa announces her passing on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 88 years of age.
Alice was born on May 13, 1921 in Cranbrook, British Columbia. She was raised on a farm at Mayook (near Wardner) and walked to the local school. Alice moved to Cranbrook for work in the late 1930’s and met the love of her life George. In 1943 they were married and moved to Invermere. Alice was a wonderful stay at home mom and took good care of business on the home front. She returned to the Cranbrook area in 1969 and spent the rest of her life here with her many close friends. Alice was an avid biography reader and a long time volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her 3 sons: John (Jamie Glass) of Cranbrook, Arthur (Jean) of Golden, British Columbia and Mel (Karen Davis) of Kamloops, British Columbia; 6 grandchildren: Trevor, Greg, Leanne, Tanya (Clark), Suki (Chad) and Derek; and also by her special friend Keith Squance of Cranbrook. Alice was predeceased by her husband George in 1994 and her daughter Caroline in 1999.
Prayers for Alice were held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Her funeral mass was held at Christ The Servant Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 am. Her Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honour of Alice may do so to their charity of choice.
