Evelyn Carol Barrington passed away July 6, 2011 peacefully at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital after a battle with cancer. The illness did not inhibit her wit nor the brave way she approached life. The loss will be felt by her many friends and family including her children Greg Paterson (Kandace), Kent Paterson (Karen) and Jane Paterson(Ivor Smith). Evelyn was the proud grandmother of Katie, Scott, Colin, Kurtis, Finlay, Alistair and the anxiously awaited child of Greg.
“Evelyn was a high energy women with an undaunted spirit. She loved being with her horses and friends,” Roweena. Cherished by many for her zeal for life and the outdoors, she was an active horsewoman and always keen to plan the next outdoor adventure delighting all those involved. Whether it was a back country trip or parade, Evelyn tackled it with enthusiasm and energy creating memories and enriching the lives of those around her.
Born in Saskatchewan and raising her children in Calgary, she settled in Windermere, B.C. for many happy years with Ben Barrington predeceased 1999. She referred to this time as the happiest time in her life and we are so pleased that they will once again be reunited. Evelyn moved permanently to Banff in 2001 and worked as a mortgage specialist for RBC. She thoroughly loved helping families reach their dreams and had a life long involvement with real estate, she always loved to put a deal together.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff in acute care at the Mineral Springs Hospital for their devotion and kindness with our mother and also the compassion that was extended to us during her battle.
