On February 27, valley teachers gathered at Pothole Park in response to their ongoing labour situation.
“We’re here to raise people’s awareness,” Doug Murray, president of the Windermere Teachers Association said. “They’re trying to legislate us, and in my mind, they’re trying to create a crisis.”
Teachers across the province have been on a work to rule mandate since the summer in response to ongoing contract negotiations. Last week, education minister George Abbott announced he intends to introduce legislation next week to end the apparently deadlocked labour dispute.
A vote on further job action by teachers, which could include a full scale walkout, is planned for today.
