A raise was awarded to the head of the regional school district during a regular meeting on November 18th. The outgoing school board approved an increase for the salary of Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 (SD6) Superintendent of Schools, Paul Carriere. His compensation has increased from $127,771 in 2013-2014 to $137,267 in 2015-2016. For the last school year, the position was compensated an additional $33,706 for benefits, pension,and transportation, totalling $161,477. Before the November 18th meeting, the Superintendent of SD6 last saw a salary increase in 2009.The guidelines and figures relating to the raise can be found on the SD6 website through the “Documents” link, then by searching “Executive Compensation.”According to the school district’s executive compensation report,increased incentive works to “attract, retain, incent, and reward qualified, high-performing employees who are critical to the delivery of quality public education.”In contrast to the position of Superintendent of Schools for School District No. 5, which oversees education in Cranbrook,a base salary of $134,726 was offered for 2014-2015, with an additional$45,979 for benefits, pension, and transportation, totalling $180,705.That compensation was divided between two people last year, as a retirement interrupted the tenure of that position.
