The death of a 58-year-old male was reported on the evening of May 11 in Fairmont.

The male has been identified as Patrick Wilder.

The death was reported by Columbia Valley RCMP, who had declared the death an in-custody death as determined by RCMP policy and protocols.

The BC Coroners Service has initiated an investigation into the death to conclude the cause and manner of death. Information will be confirmed once the circumstances surrounding the death have been thoroughly reviewed by the investigating coroner.

The Port Moody Police Department major crime session is also investigating the death.

At this time, the Port Moody Police Department has no comment as the investigation is still on-going.
