Fight HST brought its message to the snowy courtyard outside the Vancouver convention centre this afternoon, as the 5 p.m. deadline for voting to select a new B.C. Liberal leader neared.
“We’re not going to let up on it,” Fight HST organizer Chris Delaney said, noting that opinion polls still show a large majority opposed to the harmonized sales tax.
The group will keep trying to recall B.C. Liberal MLAs in the Comox Valley and Kamloops North, Delaney said, and petitioners are getting ready to launch new recalls despite the failure of the first effort in Oak Bay-Gordon Head.
Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows MLA Marc Dalton will be the target starting in the first week of March, and the campaign against Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster is expected to start the following week, he said.
Fight HST’s successful initiative petition is the reason the B.C. Liberal Party is choosing a successor to Premier Gordon Campbell, and the message to the new leader will be the same, he said.
