A fire on Octopus Mountain in Kootenay National Park was first reported at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday (August 12). Caused by a holdover fire from lightning earlier in the week, this is the largest of eight fires burning in the park with a surface area of approximataely 42 hectares as of August 12, and moving upslope, up the Lachine Creek drainage toward Assiniboine Provincial Park.
