The community of Sparwood is holding its breath as the search continues for a missing three year old boy.
Kienan Hebert was reported missing from his family home in the Whiskey Jack Golf Course area after his parents put him to bed and awoke the next morning to find him missing.
Kienan is described as having short blonde hair, wearing “Scooby Doo” boxer shorts and may have been carrying up to three blankets with him.
Elk Valley RCMP began searching immediately on receiving the report, however as of 7 a.m. Thursday, Kienan has not been located.
Local RCMP, Search and Rescue, RCMP Air Services helicopter, a police service dog, local Mine Rescue teams and hundreds of volunteers are involved in the search.
Police issued an Amber Alert and are now treating the case as a possible abduction.
Police are searching for Randall Peter Hopley, age 46 from Sparwood as he is a person of interest. His hair is brown, eyes hazel, he is Caucasian and has a birthmark along his hairline.
Police are also searching for Hopley’s vehicle a 1987 Toyota Camry, B.C. License plate 098 RAL.
Hopley does have several past convictions and the public is advised not to approach him. Anyone who has seen Kienan, Hopley or his vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.
More than 250 Sparwood residents conducted a shoulder-to-shoulder search of the area throughout the night and into Thursday morning, searching for clues about Kienan’s disappearance.Be on the look out for this vehicle. A 1987 Toyota Camry with the B.C. licence plate 098 RAL. If you see this vehicle, Randall Hopley, or young Kienan Herbert, Please call 911 .
