As the day draws nearer people are going to get more ways to be involved with the Cheesecake Burlesque weekend in Invermere on March 26-27. Instead of signing up for the whole weekend people will now have the chance to take part in different aspects of the fun
Women who want to only take part in the workshop can do so for $100 or if lunch is included with the workshop it will be $135.
For the whole day Saturday pass guests will pay $200. On the Sunday if you were interested in having dinner with the group and watching their performance after the cost will be $65 with the single ticket to the revue being $25.
Women who want to be a part of the whole weekend can still pay the original $300.
Jami Scheffer is the Manager of the gallery at the Pynelogs Cultural Centre. She said the added options were included to give more people the chance to participate in the weekend.
“This will give people who can’t partake in the whole weekend more choices to come and be involved,” Scheffer said.
She added the decision was made after talking to many people who were interested in taking part but could not do everything involved in the plan.
So far the reaction to the weekend has beeennothing but positive.
“It has been awesome. People are so excited. The thinking is that this is a great opportunity for the area to have something so different.”
The show itself is something that Scheffer feels has never come to this area before and will give people the chance to see something special.
“This is something new for the CV Arts Council. This is another form of art. So we are supporting something that is a little bit different. I think it is something the area is ready for.”
As for people who are debating whether or not they want to come out for any part of the weekend, Scheffer has a simple message.
“I think it is a chance for people to stick their necks out a little bit and support it. It’s a chance to get out of your box and step up to try something new. This is about empowering ourselves to try something new.”
