The Dance Tree community dance program will be opening up registration and classes again soon this fall. This year the program will also have its own place to call home in Invermere at the Desiderata Dance Studio.

The new studio is rented from Chisel Peak Holdings and located on 10th Avenue, situated by the Pharmasave and doctor’s office.

Staff on-hand for classes this year are dance co-ordinator Colleen Wagner, and teachers Lynette Lightfoot, Shelly Raven, Jill Andrews and Amanda Alfonso.

Classes are open for children ages three up to adults, with special dance classes for ballet, tap, jazz, modern, Irish, dance theatre and hip-hop. Specialty yoga, belly dance and core fitness classes will also be available. Additional teaching assistants and possible yoga instructors are to be announced at a later date.

A special zumba dance/fitness class will be a new feature for the program this year for all ages, featuring classes in zumba basics, zumbatomic (for children), and zumba gold (for active, older adults).

The Desiderata Dance Studio will be opening on September 6 with the program’s start. Classes will continue to December 13, break and re-commence on January 10 until May 8.
