Staff from the Bank of Montreal (BMO) in Invermere will once again take to the streets to hold a barbecue in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this year.

One of the bank staff who is helping organize the event is Andrea Prentice.

She said the event is important to BMO because, “We do this every year and it is a great community event. We are a part of the community and I feel it is a great time.”

The barbecue at BMO will happen on May 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Prentice said the bank staff have been coming out for the event for over a decade in support of the Relay for Life.

“I think the timing works out every year and we want to donate to the event. Even though we do not have a team we want to be there. Cancer is all around me in my family. Everyone seems to know someone affected by cancer,” Prentice said.

“When you hear on the news how much the proceeds from this event helps with new developments for research from events like this, it makes you want to get involved.”

As for why people should stop by and have lunch, Prentice said, “It is a kick-off to the summer, it is a long weekend, we are going to have music and it is a great way to eat lunch and every last penny will go to the Relay.”
